The national cancer patient experience survey is part of the national NHS Cancer Programme, which puts patient experience together with clinical effectiveness and safety. The survey is aimed at monitoring national progress on cancer care and driving local improvements and informing providers about support needed for patients.
In 2020 a new survey was introduced to provide a focus on under 16 patient experience - to bring about improvements in the children's cancer patient experience.
The under 16 survey asks children as well as their parents or carers about their cancer care, treatment on hospital wards, the care and treatment by staff, and the medical treatment given. You can find out more about this survey here.
