Mike Saunders
Assistant Director - Mike is the Assistant Director for East of England Cancer Alliance. Mike has over fourteen years experience of working within the NHS and Department of Health.
"My role involves developing strategic direction with the senior management team across the Alliance at a regional level. Working closely with the National Cancer Programme team to ensure any national initiatives are transitioned at a regional level and across all six systems."
Bernadette Roach
As Improvement Delivery Lead for the south of the region, Bernadette’s role is very much focused on supporting systems to deliver high quality and equitable cancer services in line with the NHS Cancer Strategy and Long-term Plan.
Gini Melesi
Head of Transformation - Gini's role focuses on shaping cancer care across the south of the region. This includes work to improve survival rates such as looking at how we can increase uptake on cancer screening, introduce innovations and implement strategies to diagnose cancers earlier, thereby improving survival rates and improving the efficiency of cancer pathways.
"Having worked as a nurse in cancer care for thirty years, patient and family experience is always at the forefront of my work - I have a strong commitment and passion to improve the care and services for anyone given a diagnosis of cancer and for those people that are supporting them through their ‘journey’."
Lisa Motley
Programme Manager - The aim of this role is on the delivery of key programmes that are aligned to ambitions of the Long Term Plan and support restoration and recovery with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"My key personal aim at work is to make a difference to patient care, ensuring delivery of quality services that support early cancer diagnosis and best practice pathways as well as personalised care for people living with and beyond cancer."
"My career has been in operational lead roles in acute trusts across multiple specialties. I am also experienced in business change and transformation programmes."
Sarah Miller
Head of Informatics - Sarah leads on cancer informatics for the East of England Cancer Alliance.
"I have worked in cancer statistics and programme management for fifteen years within cancer charities, the Civil Service and the NHS. With one in two people now at risk of being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, cancer data has never been so important.
"Using informatics alongside qualitative local narrative, the Informatics Team aim to provide a useful, robust source of evidence-based cancer intelligence for our local stakeholders that identifies variation. Our ultimate aim is to understand and improve cancer outcomes for our patients."
Emily Beirne
Senior Informatics Analyst - working within the Informatics Team in the East of England.
"I have worked as an analyst for around seven years within the NHS. I have experience in working with a range of datasets and sources, presenting complex information in understandable formats to provide key information that our system colleagues can use to highlight patterns and help inform decisions. Translating data into information to be used to improve patient pathways."
Kirsty Osborne
Kirsty is the Principal Informatics Analyst working within the informatics team in the East of England.
“I have spent over seven years working as an analyst within the NHS; managing projects, providing key insights to support decision making and working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and improve services.”
Victoria Doyle
Head of Transformation Programmes - Victoria works closely with the systems helping to shape improvements in cancer care across the north of the region.
"I have worked in a number of transformation roles in the health and care sector over the last seven years. I thoroughly enjoy working in cancer transformation as it is extremely rewarding and the programmes can make significant improvements for patients."
Kate Jackman
Improvement Delivery Lead – Kate supports the delivery of high quality, consistent and equitable cancer services and positive health outcomes for cancer patients and the public, in-line with NHS cancer strategy and the Long-term Plan.
"I have 18 years experience in the NHS and the last ten years have been in operational lead roles in an acute trust across multiple specialties."
Emma Grimes
Programme Manager - the aim of Emma's role is to deliver the key programmes that are aligned to the ambitions of the Long Term Plan, helping to shape improvements in cancer care across the south of the region.
“Having worked in the NHS for twelve years, my intention is to be able to make a difference to patient care by working alongside and supporting our system colleagues, ensuring delivery of good quality services that support early cancer diagnosis and best practice timed pathways.”
Sue Pilcher
Cancer Programme Manager – Sue supports systems in the north of the region through collaboration, by shaping improvements towards the faster diagnosis programmes, with the aim to support the delivery of quality cancer services through early diagnosis and best practice timed pathways. These are aligned to the ambitions of the Long Term Plan, helping to shape improvements in cancer care across the north of the region.
“Being a nurse for over 25 years, my focus is to continue making a positive difference to patient care by working alongside and supporting our system colleagues, ensuring patient first, through improved quality with efficient and effective pathways and processes”.
Zoe Chaudhry
Programme Manager - The aim of this role is to deliver the key programmes that are aligned to ambitions of the Long Term Plan, helping to shape improvements in cancer care across the north of the region.
"My experience includes over fifteen years spent working in NHS senior operational management roles within an Acute Trust, with a particular focus and interest in cancer services.
"I have significant experience in clinical service management, service transformation and the delivery of performance standards. I am passionate about involving patients, carers and the public in the planning,delivery and evaluation of health care services."
Inderjit Patel
Information Manager - Inderjit leads and supports on informatics projects delivered by the Alliance and partner organisations.
"I have spent almost fifteen years working in a variety of roles in NHS Health Informatics. I have worked with business partners and clinicians to develop and deliver transformation projects in primary and community care.
"I thrive on translating data into reliable information that can be used to shape services and make a difference to the lives of our local population."
Kate Swan
Communications Lead - leading on the communications function for the East of England Cancer Alliance. This includes leading on website development and introduction of social media, as well as working on stakeholder engagement and content production.
Sally Norgrove
Business Coordinator / Executive Assistant to Managing Director - The aim of the role is to provide business and office management support to the team, ensure tasks and activities are planned, managed and delivered effectively. To support the Managing Director in daily tasks, meetings, email and calendar management.
“I provide business support to the Managing Director and team with projects and workstreams. I support the Patient Partnership Group with their monthly meetings and provide business support to the Co-Chairs.
I have experience of working in cancer and the NHS, having worked at various London hospitals for over 15 years then moving to the private sector for nine years working for orthopaedics and for two private colorectal surgeons. I bring a wealth of knowledge to my role and a good dose of common sense, which is a necessary attribute."
Olayinka Olukayode
Business Support Officer for the south of the region - Olayinka coordinates and provides administrative support for the team and staff across the south of the region in order to deliver an effective service. Undertaking reporting, projects and analysis of information to support delivery.
“My goal is to enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to improve, inform and support a portfolio of projects, services and initiatives.
“I have a passion for patient care and I have spent over ten years in the delivery of effective and efficient patient administration services.”
