The East of England Cancer Alliance covers the areas of:
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough,
Norfolk and Waveney,
Suffolk and North East Essex,
Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes,
Hertfordshire and West Essex,
Mid and South Essex.
All areas have their respective Integrated Care Boards, of which there are six to cover the region.
The area we cover is diverse in terms of rural and urban communities, with populations of varying socio-economic backgrounds and demographics.
Our area includes the towns of Milton Keynes, Luton, Cambridge, Peterborough, Norwich and Ipswich as well as the East Anglian coastal towns like Southend and Great Yarmouth, and rural communities such as those of Norfolk and Suffolk.
We bring together health professionals and leaders in health and care, as well as patients and public, to improve the cancer care pathway in our region.
Our region has some exceptional facilities in cancer care including the teaching hospitals at Addenbrooke's (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
New services have been developed to meet the population needs, such as the Milton Keynes University Hospital cancer centre. And initiatives in innovation and screening are being introduced to diagnose cancer earlier and faster.
We are driving forward projects to address inequalities in health and care and putting patients at the heart of everything we do; incorporating their ideas and experience into revising and improving our care pathways (see patient involvement).
We are supporting initiatives to ensure every person receives personalised care and support throughout their cancer care journey. Currently funding pilots in personalised care, colon capsule, teledermatology, oncimmune and virtual cancer care reviews.
Working with others to bring about transformation and improvement in cancer services.
We look forward to hearing from you and working with you if you are interested in cancer care in the East of England.
